The wife and I recently took a trip out to Western Massachusetts and visited a few museums. One of them was The Clark in Williamstown. I was COMPLETELY blown away by this museum as their collection is beyond impressive, their grounds offer spectacular views of the Berkshires and their exhibitions are incredibly interesting. While there, The Clark was having an exhibition entitled Picasso Looks at Degas. The show presented (side by side) works by Picasso that were in response to specific works by Degas. It was captivating to see Picasso’s motto, “good artists copy; great artists steal” in action. The Clark is a spectacular place that I can’t recommend enough!
We also visited The Williams College Museum of Art while in Williamstown. This little museum was also impressive. Their collection includes pieces by Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, and Frederic Remington (as well as MUCH more). Also, the museum has studies that Artist Elihu Vedder did for his murals that are in The Library of Congress. Best of all? Admission is FREE.
